The use of tanjak by the Siak Malay male Kum has rooted reasons if traced from its history and function. Tanjak is considered a symbol of authority among Malay community. The higher and more complex the form, the higher the social status of the wearer.

"The creation of tanjak is more creative at the moment, initiated by Malays. Various creations appear in the beginning which are named Tebing Jatuh, Gading Gajah, Pial Ayam, Elang Menyongsong Angin and so on. These names appear to adjust the shape of tanjak to be popular in Riau and Malay" he continued.

"For its shape, there is also called a sabelit tie. In Siak Kingdom, what was well-known is tie of Pial Ayam. This is commonly used by commanders. Whereas elang Menyongsong Angin is commonly used by Datuk Limapuluh. Especially for Datuk Pesisir, its trademark is tie Hangtuah" he continued.

"This Tie of Elang Menyongsong Angin symbolizes wisdom and precision of eagles in playing wind motion. While the tie of Hang Tuah symbolizes firmness" he continued.

He mentioned, it is currently difficult to get a climb similar to that used in the Siak kingdom. The current form is more creative.

"In addition to shapes, its colors are also very diverse. Traditional Tanjaks are usually black, while for brides are tailored to clothes. Usually the bride ties Hangtuah, but now many who imitate Dendam Tak Pernah Padam are popular in Malaysia" he said.

The elected Riau Governor, Syamsuar some time ago said about tanjak, and its use will be applied in Riau Provincial Government. "For this tanjak, the use of the symbol will be reinvigorated. It will be preserved by symbolic objects that become Malay cultural identities in the middle of the community. Because previously it had moved the use of clothing and the use of Malay language" he said some time ago.

"I remember that our traditional leader, Datuk Tenas Effendi, ordered me to maintain the cultural heritage. He said that Siak was beautiful. Because if the Malay people were finished in Siak, then the Malays would be finished in Riau" Syamsuar said in remembrance of the message of the late Tenas Effendi.

He also mentioned the meaning of the word "pick up" again the cultural heritage will be the main attraction. In fact, it will complement Siak's battle as a tourist destination in Sumatra.

"Tanjak craftsmen will also produce more climbs, because it can be a gift that will be purchased by many visitors. And its use in the ASN environment will be implemented not only in Siak, but also throughout Riau Province" he advised.

Tanjak basically uses by combining it with Malay clothes which will give authority and psychological impact to the wearer. However, the use of tanjak in the government environment is still adjusted to the customary provisions in force.

For use in the government environment, it will be distinguished which are traditional and daily clothes which are used on certain days. A tie that can be used and is simpler is the tie of Pial Ayam or Elang Menyongsong Angin.
