News24xx.com - The death toll from the typhoon Mangkhut in Philippines increased to 59 people. Philippine authorities began the process of recovering and calculating the damage of the impact after Mangkhut typhoon moved to Hong Kong and China.

As reported by AFP on Monday, September 17th 2018, typhoon Mangkhut left damage on Luzon Island, which is the largest and most populous island in the Philippines. This typhoon triggered floods that inundated people's homes and brought strong winds that uprooted trees. Heavy rain triggered by this typhoon also triggered landslides in a number of locations.

Philippine authorities began calculating damage caused by typhoon Mangkhut in Luzon. On Sunday night, September 16th 2018, local police reported a surge in the death toll. So far, 59 people was killed due to the typhoon Mangkhut.

The increase in the death toll occurred after more landslide victims were found. Some of the dead were found buried in landslides, including a family of four.

Local authorities stressed that they would continue efforts to dig up landslides to find dozens of mine workers who were feared buried in Baguio. The house occupied by the mining workers was hit by a landslide caused by typhoon Mangkhut.

The impact of typhoon Mangkhut was also felt in the city of Baggao, with reports that this typhoon destroyed houses, flew roofs and toppled electricity poles. A number of road segments were blocked due to landslides and several areas flooded.
