News24xx.com - The Minister of European Union Environment decided to reduce vehicle emissions up to 35 percent on 2030.

The courts in Berlin also decided to ban the high emission vehicles in parts of the city.

A day after the United Nations warned of critical climate change conditions, European Union countries agreed to reduce motor vehicle emissions by 35 percent on 2030.

The decision was taken after tough negotiations. Especially,  Germany had insisted on setting a maximum emission reduction of 30 percent, and they fearing that its car industry would experience difficulties.

The IPCC's UN International Panel on Climate Change report that released on Monday, October 8 2018 prompted the European Union Environment Ministers to meet in Luxembourg and seek compromises in marathon talks for 13 hours.

In its report,  the IPCC warned that the world was running out of time to avoid climate disasters and unprecedented steps were needed to avoid dangerous increases in global temperatures.

EU climate commissioner, Miguel Arias Canete said the success of reaching an agreement was unexpected.

"We saw a really complicated discussion. I never believed at first that such strong support would be obtained," he said on Tuesday, October 2018 after negotiations in Luxembourg.
