Could newborn baby suffers cancer, this is the answer

News24xx.com - Hearing the word cancer definitely that comes to our mind is a deadly disease. Most cancers attack adults, but 3-5 percent attack children. What about newborns, can they get cancer? Hematology and oncology doctor from Dharmais Hospital, Dr. Marurul Aisyi, SpA (K) said that newborns can have cancer, one of them is congenital leukemia.

Congenital leukemia is usually diagnosed during the first 30 days of life. This disease is rarely found, the occurance is around 1-5 per 1 million births. The cause is not yet clear.

"Heredity and genetics are different, in fact only 10 percent are hereditary diseases. Environmental and genetic factors in children are not so dominant" said the doctor called Aisyi at Adhyatma Building, Ministry of Health, South Jakarta, Tuesday, October 16th 2018.

According to Dr. Aisyi, cancer treatment in infants and children is easier to do and cure than adults. This is due to the good cell structure. "That is the response to better therapy for children. The chaos of the cell is not as in adult" he said.
