Pope Francis will visit North Korea, report says

News24xx.com - The North Korean government said Pope Francis will visit its country next spring. According to them this is a Vatican response at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. "I heard there was talk that Pope Francis wants to visit North Korea next spring" explained by Lee Hae-chan, Democratic Party Chairperson in a meeting with senior party officials, Yonhap reported.

However, Lee did not mention the source of information he had. Lee also supported if South Korean President Moon Jae-in delivered Kim's invitation to visit North Korea in his meeting with the Pope.

During a summit with Moon last month, North Korean leader said he would be happy to welcome the Pope if he agreed to visit Pyongyang. This was stated by Moon's spokesman, Moon plans to deliver the message to the Pope when he visits the Vatican on October 17-18. This Vatican visit is part of a nine-day trip to Europe.
