News24xx.com -  The UK charity, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), has named Indonesia as the most generous country in the world in 2018. It was followed by Australia in second place and New Zealand in third place.

The annual index since 2010 measures the level of generosity of 146 countries in the world. The data used is by evaluating the World Poll Initiative survey conducted by Gallup on various aspects of life today including giving behavior.

At the '2018 World Giving Index' released by CAF, Indonesia succeeded in shifting Myanmar to the top of the list. The number one ranking since 2014 dropped to ninth. There are three activities that are benchmarks for assessment, namely helping foreigners, donating money and volunteering.

Indonesia scored 46 percent, 78 percent and 53 percent respectively. With this acquisition Indonesia's average rating is the highest at 59 percent. "For the first time, Indonesia topped the CAF's World Giving Index. After occupying the second position in 2017, the three numbers of generosity of Indonesians have largely remained unchanged," according to the agency in its release.

In the top 20 list, only half are included in the list of developed countries in the UN version with high income levels. While 10 other developing countries have varying levels of income, including Indonesia, which has a lower middle income level.

"The CAF's World Giving Index provides unique insights about the trend of generosity throughout the world. This is the starting point of worldwide conversation about how we nurture and foster people's natural desire to help others and jointly build a better society," said CAF Chief Executive Sir John Low.
