News24xx.com - A short, black and white film created by Walt Disney in 1927 is found in Japan after it was thought to have disappeared for decades. The film is titled “Neck ‘n Neck” and it features the character that Walt created even before he created Mickey Mouse: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

Unfortunately, the copyright fell into the hands of business rival in the first year. That was why Walt created Mickey Mouse, which becomes popular to this day.

Eight decades later, in 2007, Disney was able to gain back the copyright of Oswald. However, there were only 19 short films that they could find physically, and the rest was missing. Until in 2018, a Japanese woman named Yasushi Watanabe reported that she had the release of one of the seven missing films.

Yasushi, who turns 84 this year, bought the release in a toy wholesale center in Osaka, decades ago, when she was still a young student. All this time, she had not realized how important the film she owned, until she read the book “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons” that David wrote. Yasushi then contacted Disney to report her finding.

“I’m an old Disney fan and I’m glad to be able to play an important part in this search,” Yashushi said.

Oswald is a rabbit character that at a glance, looks like Mickey Mouse, but with longer feet and ears. Oswald’s designs have changed as its owners changed. Since Disney got him back, Oswald has appeared in three long films and a number of television series.
