But Israeli authorities insist that they spray only on their plants with herbicides. But Palestinian farmers deny that statement, which quoted from Russia Today on January 12, 2019.

This agricultural war news has actually started since last December 2018. Ahmed Badawi, a Palestinian farmer, told Russia Today that his crops were failed to harvest this year and was repeatedly contaminated with herbicides since last year.

From information, that gusts of wind carrying these chemicals included glyphosate. "We don't know what to do. It's the same thing over and over again, every year" said Palestinian farmers.

The use of glyphosate has been banned in many countries because it risks the health of the human body and causes cancer.

For the first time, Israel sprayed herbicides by plane. The aircraft stopped spraying chemicals when they arrived at Israeli farmer land. Israel's defense minister claimed the spraying was to provide better border control under Israel's Plant Protection Act 5716-1956.

"Spraying is done using standard substances used in Israel and other countries, to prevent weeds from growing. Spraying is done only near the border and not into the Gaza Strip" said the Israeli military spokesman quoted from the news.

On the other hand, Badawi claimed he did not receive any assistance from the Israeli government. Conversely, there are cases where Israeli farmers affected by the spraying have been compensated for their losses, said Samir Zaqout, from the Al Mezan Human Rights Group.

So from that, said Samir, they asked Palestinian farmers on both sides of the border to be treated the same thing. And demanded that Israel compensate Palestinian farmers and stop the action of spraying pesticides.
