News24xx.com - Tourists are prohibited from taking photos in the Golden Temple in order to maintain the sanctity of the Sikh places of worship. "This is not a place to relax. This is a religious site where worshipers come to pray and seek solace from their sadness," said Roop Singh, chief secretary of the Committee Parbandhak Shiromani Gurdwara, the agency managing the site in the city of Amritsar. Every day thousands of tourists and pilgrims visit the Golden Temple. Its popularity is similar to the Taj Mahal.

Every day, Golden Temple provides free food for visitors who come. This concept is the same as that of other Sikh temples. After the new rules take effect, only invited guests are now allowed to take pictures inside the Golden Temple complex. "Rules will be applied to maintain the sanctity of this place" Singh said.
