Study found good person is more prone to depression

According to a report published in the journal Nature Human Behavior, people with good personalities will be more susceptible to depression. This study revealed that good people will be more sensitive to feelings of injustice and more likely to be depressed than those who seem indifferent or selfish.

The research conducted by Dr. Masahiko Haruno saw the personality of 350 people who were separated in the categories 'pro social' and 'individualist'. The researcher also saw someone's desire to help others in terms of subject.

After that, researchers examined the brains of the research participants using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine to see areas of the brain that were active when performing certain situations. "The results of this study show that those in pro-social groups (good people) are more likely to suffer symptoms of depression" the Times of India was quoted as saying.

This study does not prove that being a good person will automatically cause depression, but that caring people may be more vulnerable to depression, thanks to the nature of empathy and a high tolerance for injustice.
