For example, in one of the meatless burgers, 20 grams of saturated fat were found: this is the daily rate for an average woman and two thirds of the daily rate for a man. McDonald's Big Mac contains 9.5 grams of fat, and the classic hamburger contains 3.3 grams of saturated fat.
Experts explain the high fat content of vegetarian burgers using coconut oil. Fortunately, the fat concentration is slightly reduced after heat treatment.
In any case, saturated fats are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. However, in addition to saturated fats, vegetarian versions are dangerous with a high salt and calorie content, experts warn.
