News24xx.com - On Thursday, February 21st 2019, Israeli-made spacecraft will fly to the Moon using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. The success of this mission will make Israel as the fourth country that ever landed to the Moon, following the US, China and Russia. Although this mission carries the name of Israel, most of the funds for the development of the vehicle called Beresheet come from private donations from billionaires such as Morris Kahn and the Adelson Family Foundation.

It will also bring up another special record: making Beresheet a vehicle made by the first private company that will touch the surface of the Moon. "This is the first mission from a small country to the Moon but this is also a non-government mission to the Moon, which is privately funded" SpaceIL CEO Ido Anteby told a news conference as quoted from Newsweek, on Wednesday, February 20th 2019.

Not only that, Beresheet will also be the cheapest and smallest vehicle that will successfully land on the Moon. The vehicle developed by a private company from Israel, SpaceIL in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries costs around USD 100 million and weighs 158 kilograms. In fact, NASA is reportedly very impressed with the very economical design of the Beresheet so they are considering this vehicle as a prototype for their future landing on the Moon.
