News24xx.com - Finally, a mother and father who starved, shackled and abused 12 of their 13 children for years have been jailed for life.

The parents named David and Louise Turpin were handed the lengthy sentence at a court hearing in Riverside, California, Friday, 15 months after their vile crimes were exposed.

David and Louise Turpin, who imprisoned their huge brood in a filthy rental home in Perris, California, sobbed during Friday’s hearing as their kids read out victim impact statements, before apologizing for the abuse.

David Turpin, 57, and Louise, 50, each admitted 14 felony child abuse and torture charges in February, just over a year after their crimes were exposed in January 2018.

The Turpins horrific crimes – as well as bizarre photos of the huge family dressed in matching outfits – shot them to worldwide notoriety when their behaviour was exposed last year.

The harrowing phone January 2018 that made by the couple’s daughter Jordan, then 17, begging for help was released for the first time. Jordan, who summoned help after escaping through a window and using a deactivated cellphone to dial 911 told the call dispatcher: "My parents are abusive… My two little sisters right now are chained up. We live in filth and sometimes I wake up and I can’t breathe, because of how dirty the house is."

When officer asked when she had last bathed, Jordan answered: ‘I don’t know, almost a year ago. But sometimes I feel so dirty, I wash my face and I wash my hair."

She also said that she had never been to a dentist in her life.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene they found Jordan’s 12 siblings, aged two to 29 years-old, filthy, emaciated and shackled to their beds. Only the youngest child had escaped abuse and neglect at the hands of the couple.

The youngster later told cops she had been hit, choked and abused by her father.

Officers who attended the home initially believed some of the Turpins’ adult offspring were still children, because they had been so badly starved. The youngsters were forced to survive on jalapeno baloney sandwiches, while their parents devoured Jersey Mike’s sub sandwiches, pizza and fries.

They have since been spilt up into smaller groups, and are said to be thriving in their new foster homes.
