News24xx.com - For food lovers with strong spices, curry must be their favorite food. But who would have thought that spices on curry could help to cure breathing problems. According to a study of Japanese curry maker House Foods Corp and a professor at Kyoto University, spices commonly used in curry can help with respiratory problems, especially those caused by fine particles or pollution in the air.

The study found that cloves, turmeric, cinnamon and coriander have the power to suppress inflammation caused by air pollutants by PM 2.5. The results are known from laboratory experiments that use human airway cells that like to consume curry containing those spices.

PM 2.5 particle itself is an air particle smaller than 2.5 micrometers. "We can give positive results. There is a good possibility that consuming these spices will also produce the desired results" said Hirohisa Takano, professor of environmental medicine at a state university.

A unit from House Foods Group Inc., said it would conduct additional studies on the health benefits of curry in order to increase its consumption among the society. PM2.5 is a 2.5 micron particle that can pose a big risk to health because they are able to penetrate the human lungs and can cause strokes, heart disease, lung cancer, pneumonia and other diseases.
