News24xx.com - Football star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets an increase in salary in 2019. That way, Ibrahimovic is now the highest paid player in MLS history. On Wednesday, June 12th 2019, the MLS Players Association (MLSPA) released a payroll for every player in the league. The Swedish footballer topped the list for received a salary of USD 7.2 million.

The Los Angeles Galaxy player’s salary surpassed the previous record held by Sebastian Giovinco while still defending Toronto FC. In 2017 and 2018, Giovinco earned USD 7.115 million.

Reported by One Football, MLSPA revealed that the average paid player is USD 376,174 as a base salary for the 2019 season. And an additional USD 417,643 as compensation guarantee. The minimum salary of a senior player rises to USD 70,250, while the salary of a benched player rises to at least USD 56,250.

Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney only gets almost half of Ibrahimovic's salary. However, Rooney remains in the list of the highest-paid MLS players with USD 3.5 million.
