Riau House of Representatives held journalistic training to anticipate hoax


Photo : InternetPhoto : Internet - The Journalists Forum of Riau Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) held a journalistic training for millennial generation in Public High School (SMAN) 1 Pekanbaru, on Tuesday, July 16th. The activity was opened by the Vice Governor of Riau, Edy Natar Nasution, Vice Head of DPRD Riau, Asri Auzar, and the Headmaster of SMAN 1 Pekanbaru, Wan Roswita.

Edy Natar Nasution said that this activity by the Journalists Forum of DPRD was meant to anticipate the spread of false information or hoax. He also hopes that students, who are using the advanced technology and social media, can filter the information they get.

“I think what is done by the Journalistic Forum is good, and I hope this activity will turn them into anti-hoax, which means that they will not believe in any information they get in social media so easily,” he said.

Meanwhile, Asri Auzar said that she was really proud of the Journalists Forum of DPRD Riau for holding such event. She hopes with this training, students can differentiate the real information from hoax.

“In journalistic, you cannot spread false information. There are some things that you cannot spread in journalistic, so before you read the information, you have to check the authenticity,” she said.

Meanwhile, Wan Roswita thanked the Journalistic Forum for choosing their school for this program. She hopes this activity will be beneficial for the young generation.

“As much as 40 students from eleventh grades and twelfth grades attended this activity. I hope the information that was given can be beneficial for them, especially regarding hoax,” she said.
