News24xx.com -  The annual Bali's jazz festival, Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF), is expected to boost foreign tourist visit to the resort island this year.

"The event is one of the ways to preserve art and culture with high value and to increase tourists visit," said Tourism Ministry official I Gusti Ngurah Putra, Friday, August 16.

Some 2,000 visitors attend the biggest jazz event in Bali at Arma Museum & Resort Ubud. What is special from the event is that the portable stages of Giri, Pagi, and Subak are made of eco-friendly materials.

The festival is held on August 16 to 17, which coincides with the 74th commemoration of Indonesia Independence Day on Saturday, August 17. "UVJF gives a special meaning to Indonesia's independence," he said.

The UVJF 2019 is opened with local art performance dubbed Okokan, which is a musical instrument commonly made of wood that resembles a kentungan.

The jazz festival is enlivened with the performance of foreign and domestic musicians, among others Aram Rustamyants “New Centropezn Quartet” from Russia, Sri Hanuraga Trio Feat Dira Sugandi (Indonesia), Arcing Wires from Sydney - Australia, and many more.
