News24xx.com -  To obtain the ideal body, many women are on an extreme diet. This prompted the FDA to issue a safety warning after five people died while undergoing an increasingly popular weight-loss procedure using balloons.

Five deaths occur in less than a month after undergoing a salline balloon procedure, a balloon containing saline implanted into the stomach to suppress appetite and reduce excessive eating.

However, the FDA is investigating which parts of the weight loss process are causing it to be fatal.

The procedure requires patients to swallow a balloon of salt water to help them feel full, until they lose weight.

The FDA issued warnings earlier this year about balloons that are too numerous to pose risks of pancreatitis.

Americans have poor conditions associated with weight loss. By 2016, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that more than two-thirds of Americans (68.8 percent) are considered overweight or obese. That means about 200 million people are experiencing the dangerous condition.

Obalon is a non-invasive three-step procedure that requires you to swallow three balloons for three months. The procedure was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in September 2016, and passed to the public in January 2017.

The procedure begins with a swallowing capsule that covers a balloon by a doctor through a catheter. Once fully filled with gas, balloons that are just the size of an orange and weigh about one cent, and put in the stomach. This process is repeated one and two months later.

Balloon's diet help patients lose weight because they take up space in the stomach, making you feel full. However, the reason why this procedure is so risky because it reduces the negative side effects that are usually associated with gastric procedures, such as nausea or severe abdominal pain, because the balloon floats up the abdomen.

At the end of the slimming procedure, the doctor will issue a balloon, and by that time the patient has begun to see the results.

With prices ranging from USD 6,000 (IDR 81 million) to USD 9.000 (IDR 122 million), this is not the most expensive weight loss procedure. However, some research claims that the procedure could facilitate weight loss twice as much.
