News24xx.com -  Three female suicide bombers detonated themselves at the entrance to the refugee camp in northeastern Nigeria.

At least 28 people were killed and 82 others wounded in bomb attacks. The attack occurred in Mandarari, about 25 kilometers from Maiduguri, capital of Borno State on Tuesday, August 15 2017 local time.

"Three female bombers detonated themselves outside a camp of homeless people... killing 28 people and injuring 82 others," said Baba Kura, a member of the security forces formed to combat the militants.

Kura said as reported by the AFP News Agency on Wednesday, August 16 2017 in the incident, the first bomber detonated himself up to trigger panic among the citizens.


"People are trying to close their shops when two female bombers detonated their explosives, which caused many casualties," said Kura.


Ibrahim Liman, head of the local antimilitan militia forces confirmed the details of the attack. He said more than 80 injuries had been taken to Maiduguri Hospital.


It was the latest attack in a series of attacks that have plagued the region of Northeastern Nigeria conflict.

The region is a base for militant Boko Haram group activity that involves shooting, bombing and kidnapping.

Boko Haram uprising began in 2009. So far, around 20 thousand people have been killed and approximately 2.6 million residents have been left homeless during the conflict.

According to United Nation figures, nearly two million people in Nigeria suffer from severe malnutrition due to the conflict.
