Foodies and Pleasure Seekers: Many Interesting Events In Early October

Jakarta foodies and pleasure seekers, you won’t miss this October. As the inaugural Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW) will be held from Oct. 7 to 20.

Initiated by six food enthusiasts including branding strategists Gupta Sitorus and Primo Rizky, pastry chef Talita Setyadi and food writer Tria Nuragustina, JDW involves a number of participating restaurants that will serve special desserts for diners to enjoy.

Some of the participated restaurants are Beau Bakery, La Patisserie at Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta and Nusa Gastronomy.

All participating outlets are required to create a special dessert based on this year’s theme, “Retro”.

The theme refers to a common trend in the culinary scene where food creators like to use nostalgic elements in contemporary dishes.

A stamp card will be given to diners who eat the special dishes or participate in the special events. After collecting five stamps, diners and participants are eligible for a raffle to win prizes including hotel vouchers and glassware.

The organizer of the event plans to hold JDW annually. They expect to be able to involve popular international pastry chefs such as Will Goldfarb and Janice Wong in the upcoming years.
