Again, the Meranti Islands Retreat to Host MTQ 2020

News24xx.com - Not officially designated yet as the host of MTQ Riau 2020, the Meranti Islands Regency Government first resigned to host the grand event.

That was after the youngest Regency in Riau Province submitted a request to the Riau Provincial Government not to be appointed as the host of MTQ Riau 2020, due to infrastructure issues that were not supportive. Previously, in 2018 the Meranti Islands also retreated in the same activity.

The Head of the Meranti Islands through the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Hery Saputra SH said this was because the RoRo infrastructure problem leading to Meranti was not operating because it was damaged, so this was considered by Meranti to submit a proposal to the Governor of Riau not to be appointed to host MTQ Riau.

"The Port of Roro is still damaged, so vehicles from outside cannot enter. Indeed the infrastructure problem is not Meranti's authority, but the province and the center, but that is our consideration," said Hery Saputra, Thursday (12/5/2019).

In addition to transportation problems, Hery also mentioned other problems, namely financial.

"In addition to infrastructure issues, we are also constrained by financial problems. This means that there is no budget for this MTQ. Of course this is supported by a budget,
"It is not possible for the provincial agenda but for the district budget, the province should provide our funds only as a host," said Hery.
