Pekanbaru Transportation Agency Will Close Two U-Turns on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai

PEKANBARU- The Transportation Department (Dishub) of Pekanbaru City will close two U-turns (turning round direction) on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai (formerly known as Jalan Jackfruit). Closing two U-turns to unravel the traffic on the road.

"We together with the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) have held a joint meeting to make a study and plans. According to the results of the study, more and more U-turns are not good for traffic flow," said Task Force Chief of Pekanbaru Yuliarso , Monday (9/12/2019).

The study has been carried out by Transportation Agency at several points on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai. At present, the closing of the two U-turns is in the trial phase.

"If the U-turn function is not optimal then we will close. But in the field, we are still closing with a water barrier or temporary barrier," said Yuliarso.

Looking ahead, the closure of the two U-turns will be permanent. So, the row of water barrier cannot be shifted anymore. So that the flow of traffic can flow.

"We have calculated the closure of the two U-turns. So it is not merely for us to close at will. It's not like that," said Yuliarso.

The closing of the U-turn on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai is the result of the count of the Transportation Agency officers. The flow of vehicles that reverse direction on the U-turn is calculated every hour.

"My members monitor through surveillance cameras. There is already data. Checked with valid data," explained Yuliarso.

Therefore, the Transportation Agency with the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit agreed to close part of the U-turn on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai. After that, the closing of the two U-turns will be followed up with traffic signs.

"So, we appeal to the residents, when there are signs, there will be action. Because the signs are a warning, prohibition, and notification," said Yuliarso

If the signs are violated, the driver will be ticketed. The community is also encouraged to jointly create better traffic flows, especially on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai.

"It is also possible, on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman we will evaluate again. Including on Jalan Riau, precisely in front of Ciputra Mall so that it will not be jammed," Yuliarso said again. (R24 / Put)
