Insulting Islam on Social Media, These Three Men Were Sentenced to Prison

Three men allegedly insulted Islam on Facebook and Instagram after the Sri Lankan explosion in May this year, Dubai Court of the First Instance received the report on Wednesday.

The three men worked at a luxury hotel in Palm Jumeirah ,. They were reported to the police by their colleagues after they posted narrative images that insulted Islam on social media platforms in May.

According to the Dubai Public Prosecutor, the three defendants were aged between 28 and 34 years. They admit that the pictures and text they uploaded are insulting.

A 35-year-old Pakistani employee at the hotel explained that the defendant insulted Islam on Facebook, while at the hotel where he worked there were workers from 84 different countries. He called the defendant to be interrogated internally and they claimed to make the post.

Police from the Al Barsha station went down to the hotel and arrested the defendants. The police ransacked their residence and took their cellphones and laptops for further investigation.

The Dubai Public Prosecutor charged the perpetrators.
