News24xx.com - The story of the teacher in the Meranti island Regency has become viral lately. This is after the circulation of a video where a determined teacher plunges into the sea to secure a pompong ship which will be used with his colleague to go to teach being hit by waves.

It is known that these teachers teach in a school which is in an isolated area precisely at SDN 10 Lukun, Keridi Hamlet, Bathinsuir Village, Tebingtinggi Timur District.

In the 39-second long video, it appears that the boat carrying the teachers was hit by a big wave on Tuesday (1/21/2020) afternoon, as a result the ship driven by the school principal named Suardi was forced to pull over to the edge of the mangrove forest.

Even a teacher with the status of a civil servant is determined to jump into the sea. The teacher, known as Syamsul Bahri, intends to secure the boat so that it does not stumble and sink. Meanwhile the female teachers were seen screaming hysterically out of fear.

The small boat is known to be the only means of transportation for these teachers who teach in isolated areas, because if you have to go by land, it takes almost three hours because they have to turn.

Every day they depart in this small boat, not least against the storm, waves or fog, it is because dozens of students are waiting there, the headmaster along with four other teachers are forced to cross the River Suir even though there must be risks to be faced.

Suardi said, his Pompong ship was the only mode of transportation to the teaching place.

"If Pompong is damaged, we will certainly not be able to go to teach with the teachers, because this is the only transportation to get there," Suardi said.

During his service, there have been many ups and downs for this man who has been a teacher since 1988, starting from his boat sinking, the engine breaking down on the way, to the boat fan caught in the trash at the bottom of the river.

"If the boat fan gets stuck, I will be forced to dive under the river myself," Suardi said.

Obstacles to the way to school where to educate the Akit children do not stop there, after walking along the river for 1 hour, the long journey was waiting with the muddy road conditions buried up above the ankles.

In order to get through the road, they also had to take off their shoes and tie their pants to their knees.

"If the shoe is not removed, it cannot walk because it is sticky by clay mud. There is no base or semenisasi, only clay is muddy," he said.

Quite often they joke with each other to get rid of fatigue, occasionally they hold hands with each other so as not to slip due to slippery roads and not plunged into the river when crossing a fragile and hollow bridge.

"On the way, we and other teachers always joke, this is deliberately done to drive away our fatigue," said Suwardi.

The struggle of the headmaster who has served since 1996 is not only on his way to school, the land area of ??3240 m2 where the school stands was bought for Rp250 thousand in 2000 ago.

Suardi revealed, before teaching at SDN 10 Lukun, Batinsuir Village, he taught at SDN 6 school in Lukun Village, Tebingtinggi Timur District.

However, at that time he heard that the neighboring village, Batinsuir Village did not have teachers and schools to teach reading, writing and counting for Akit children.

"When I taught first, this land was deliberately bought by me to build a school, so that the children here could go to school. We put forward a proposal in the Bengkalis era in 2002, if there were no other people here, no one would be able to survive teaching here, "said Suardi.
