Wednesday 22 January 2020, Chairperson of the Ansor Youth Movement (GP) of Riau Province Purwaji called on the government to audit the readiness of plantation companies in anticipation of land fires in the company's area.

The audit is intended to check the preparedness of the fire handling budget, the willingness of personnel or volunteers, equipment and SOP of each company to prevent fires.

The chairman of PW Ansor Riau, Purwaji or familiarly called Mas Pur, said that it is better to prevent fires as early as possible before a fire occurs. "Therefore, the government and responsible officials must check or audit the company's preparedness starting from the SOPs and equipment and personnel in dealing with land fires," said Chairman of the Riau Ansor.

Moreover, the fact is that every time a fire occurs in Riau, most of it occurs in the plantation area. "If not when there is a fire in the area of ??the plantation or land, the certain company is stuttering and is not ready so that it spreads into a haze disaster like last year," said Mas Pur.

Purwaji also appreciated the steps of Riau Police Regional Police which gave strict sanctions to the ranks below that were considered negligent in dealing with forest and land fires in their area. The assertion of the Riau Police Chief will be a whip for all police personnel to really carry out their duties to prevent and overcome forest and land fires.

But, Purwaji stressed that Riau Police should not be allowed to work alone, the provincial, district and city governments must also show their seriousness in overcoming the problem of forest and land fires in Riau.

"If the synergy is built up well between the Regional Government and Regional Police as well as all relevant agencies including companies, then we can prevent forest and land fires," continued the Chairman of Ansor Riau GP, Purwaji. (Riki)
