Heavy Rain, Thousands of People Affected by Floods in Gedebage Bandung

The Cinambo River also overflowed and inundated at least 400 houses in the Adipura Bumi Complex area, Gedebage District.

Bandung Mayor Oded M Danial who visited the flood point said that there were around 1,100 people affected by flooding in Gedebage District.

Irwan (43), a resident, said that the cause of the flood was in addition to being triggered by heavy rain which caused high water discharges, it was also caused by a blockage of water in the Cinambo River.

"Other residents said that the river is obstructed in Cinambo," he said, Saturday (1/25), as reported by CNN Indonesia.

While Oping Arifin, Chairman of RW 08 said the flood was not the first to occur in his home area. However, this time the flood is considered the worst since the last four years.

"The most severe thing happened last night. The flood reached knee-high adults," he said.

The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Office (Diskar PB) have evacuated eight residents to a safer place in the Mistahul Janah Mosque using a rubber boat unit.

According to the Mayor of Bandung, Oded M Danial, the flood this time is slower to recede compared to similar floods that hit the area some time ago.
