Pekanbaru Parliament Alert Company to Disburse CSR Funds

PEKANBARU - Member of Commission II Pekanbaru City Council Munawar Syahputra reminded all companies in the city of Pekanbaru to fulfill their obligations in implementing Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility by channeling Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.

"Currently in the Pekanbaru City area there are hundreds or even thousands of companies operating. If all companies implement CSR funds, it will greatly assist the government in efforts to increase development," said Munawar, when speaking with reporters on Tuesday (01/28/2020).

Not only that, this NasDem Party politician also requested that the Pekanbaru City Government be able to openly disclose the management and distribution of CSR funds that have been provided by the company so far, as well as provide action or strict sanctions for companies that do not implement the program.

Because, continued Munawar, based on the Regional Regulation that was passed by the Parliament in 2018 about Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility, reports and evaluations of the implementation of Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility are open and accessible to the general public.

"The regulation must be the basis, because there are reprimands and sanctions for companies that do not distribute. But until now I as a supervisory function have not heard and received copies of reports related to any company that has provided CSR funds," he said.

Munawar reminded, it is fitting that the company does not merely pursue profits, but also has concern for environmental sustainability and community welfare by providing CSR.

"Must be equally profitable in this case, it should not be one-sided, the community must also feel the benefits, and the Parliament will certainly continue to oversee, also will call a competent party if it is felt that this matter is not implemented well," he concluded. (R24 / put)
