Impact of Corona Virus, Government Ready to Maintain Purchasing Stability
JAKARTA - The government has promised to maintain people's purchasing power as a step towards the impact of the Corona Virus spreading.
That was revealed by the Minister of Economy Airlangga Hartarto when met with reporters, at Jakarta, on Friday (2/21/2020).
Airlangga said, that is what needs to be maintained. "Of course what we need to protect domestically is buying power so that the economy does not go down," he said.
Airlangga also added, the spread of Corona Virus will affect global conditions, including Indonesia, so there needs to be anticipation.
Among the strengthening of purchasing power is maintaining the performance of household consumption which has been the main supporter of Indonesia's economic growth.

But when asked what the estimated economic growth for the impact of the virus. As Bank Indonesia has revised its economic growth target from 5.5 percent to 5.4 percent.
"We are also still monitoring every month and the trends," Airlangga Hartarto said.
BI itself had previously predicted economic growth in 2020 to be 5.0 percent-5.4 percent, from the previous 5.1 percent-5.5 percent.
The central bank even projects that the economy in the first quarter of 2020 will only grow at around 4.9 percent because it is affected by global conditions that are affected by the spread of Corona Virus.
Based on a Bank Indonesia study, the spread of the Corona Virus can affect the Indonesian economy through tourism, trade and investment.
Therefore, the government makes a stimulus policy through accelerating productive spending and providing incentives to support the strengthening of the national economy.
These policies include accelerating spending that encourages labor-intensive, among others by accelerating capital disbursement and social assistance.
In addition, the acceleration of spending also includes increasing the implementation of village fund activities since the beginning of the year to create productive activities that absorb labor.
Furthermore, stimulus spending includes the Basic Food Supply Card targeting low-income people by preparing an additional budgetary requirement of Rp3.8 trillion.
Another policy is to provide housing interest subsidies to expand the target of housing interest subsidies to around 224 thousand housing units with an allocation of IDR1.5 trillion in 2021.
To the middle income community, the government wants to provide incentives to the tourism sector, namely to travel agents and tourism marketing personnel.
Another stimulus is the Pre-Work Card intended for job seekers, which is planned to be given as many as two million cards with a budget allocation of IDR.10 million. (R24 / Bhishma)
