Dozens of Simalungun Residents Poisoning After Eating Dog Meat

After weeping the dogs together with as many as 23 residents of Panombean Hutahurung Village, Hataran District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra were poisoned and had to be rushed to the nearest hospital.

"It happened on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. The exact data was 27 people, it was true (poisoning). They were sick from eating dog meat," said Balata Police Chief, AKP Jagani Sijabat, quoted from Vivanews. Saturday, February 22, 2020.

On the day of the incident, a resident in the village, was holding a celebration by providing meals together with the main menu of dog meat.

"It's really a habit there, they buy dogs together, they also cost a joint venture, then do it together and cook it together," Jagani said.

Jagani said that of the dozens of people, some were allowed to go home. Now, the police conduct an investigation related to poisoning eating dog meat.

"The situation is now rather better some residents have returned. In total there are currently 22 people who are still being treated, and until now the police are still investigating the main causes of poisoning, "Jagani explained.
