Give Up Against Covid-19, German Finance Minister Finally Chose to Commit Suicide

News24xx.com - The finance minister of Hesse, Germany, Thomas Schaefer, committed suicide because he was unable to handle the economic situation due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

According to The Star, the 54-year-old man's body was found near the railroad track on Saturday (March 28) and is believed to have committed suicide, reports Wiesbaden's prosecution office.

"We are shocked, we do not believe and above all, we are very sad," said state prime minister Volker Bouffier.

Hesse is home to the German financial capital Frankfurt, located and is home to the European Central Bank and major lenders such as the Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank headquarters.

Bouffier explained that Schaefer, the chief financial officer of Hesse for the past 10 years worked "day and night" to help companies and workers deal with the economic impact of the pandemic.

Bouffier said, "Today we must assume that he is very worried," Bouffier said.

"It is precise during this difficult time we will need someone like him."

Schaefer is survived by his wife and two children.

To date, Germany is known to have 62,095 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 9,211 recovery and 541 deaths.
