Two Doctors Died Due to Corona Virus, Already 18 Doctors Become Victims

News24xx.com - Two doctors died from the Corona virus. This was justified by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), both of whom were patients under surveillance (PDP).

According to IDI's Public Relations Halik Malik, the two doctors were treated at RSPP (Pertamina Central Hospital) and at Pelni Hospital (Indonesian National Shipping). "Yes, both PDP (patients under surveillance) COVID-19. Doctor Heru Sutantyo was treated at the Jakarta RSPP and Dr. Wahyu Hidayat SpTHT was treated at Pelni Hospital, Jakarta," Halik said when contacted by reporters, Jakarta, Sunday (5/4/2020) .

Halik added, the two doctors did not serve Corona patients only public patients. "As doctors, they practice as usual, serving general patients. Some doctors who died of COVID-19 did not directly treat Corona-positive patients in isolation or COVID-19 treatment rooms," he added.

Halik said that at this time 18 doctors had died amid the Corona pandemic. Then 6 other doctors are dentists.

"At least there have been 18 doctors and 6 dentists who died preceding colleagues in the face of the Corona pandemic," he said.

Halik urges medical staff to always use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with standards. In addition, improvement of services needs to be done, given the risk of transmission is quite high for medical personnel.

"Standard PPE (personal protective equipment) and service system adjustments need to be addressed to avoid the risk of contracting," he said.
