News24xx.com - Members of the Indonesian Parliament from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Faction
Kurniasih Mufidayati hoped that his colleagues would not discuss the Omnibus Law Bill at the Legislation Agency (Baleg).

The leadership and all members of the DPR should have sided with the people and workers in facing the corona pandemic (Covid-19).

The House of Representatives Commission IX member believes the corona pandemic has infected thousands of Indonesian citizens, eliminating hundreds of lives, including dozens of doctors and medical personnel.

"And now hundreds of millions of Indonesians are threatened with life if we are not focused and seriously facing the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic," he said as quoted by the press release, Jakarta, Sunday (5/4/2020).

For this reason, he, together with his faction, will encourage DPR leaders and all DPR members to focus on siding with the people and workers in the face of increasingly worrisome corona pandemics.

"Since early March, when the first positive case was announced to this day, many workers have been laid off or worked part time so as to reduce income," he explained.

Then there are also those who continue to work, must leave the house to meet the needs of his family, or will get the threat of layoffs if they do not come to work.

"The state should be present to protect the workers who have helped move the national economy," Mufida said.

Therefore, continued Mufida, the PKS Faction invited the DPR leadership and all Members of the DPR to promote empathy and conscience for the people of Indonesia.

"We can sit in parliament with the support of the people and workers, not a handful of groups who want to take advantage of the current situation and conditions," Mufida said.

He argued, the DPR leadership was not good at taking the momentum of this pandemic to discuss a bill that could make workers increasingly depressed and languished in the current situation.

"I hope that the House leadership can wisely make this pandemic situation a moment to move all components of the nation in fighting and combating COVID19," said Mufida.

The House's decision to continue discussing the Omnibus Law Bill, practically provoked workers' concerns throughout Indonesia. Their memories are directed at a bill that does not favor workers' rights and will be discussed very quickly.

"Of course this will provoke their anxiety, worries and even disappointment so that it can make the situation even more conducive when PSBB is implemented," concluded Mufida.

As is known, the DPR leadership on Thursday 2 April 2020 approved the discussion of the Omnibus Law Bill in the Baleg. The next legislature will hold a public test.
