Heartbreaking; Being Suspected of Stealing, a Transgender Was Burned Alive in North Jakarta

News24xx.com - Malang is the fate of the transgender, Mira, who was tortured and burned alive by a group of people in Cilincing, North Jakarta. Until finally, he died in a very pathetic condition and way.

The police intervened after receiving a report about the tragic event that happened to the M.

Based on information compiled by AFP, this incident began when M was accused of theft of his wallet and cellphone on Saturday 4 April 2020.

Then, the perpetrators carried out the persecution of Mira to be burned alive.

Mira who suffered burns was taken to the hospital. However, a day later the victim died.

The traces of the perpetrators who burned the lives of transgender people little by little began to unfold.

Kasat Reskrim North Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, when contacted by AFP on Tuesday (07 April 2020), did not explain in detail how many perpetrators were arrested. Currently the perpetrators are still being questioned by the police.

Events of violence against M were denounced by activists, the Sandya Institute.

"We, the whole Sandya Institute organization, condemned this incident and demanded full justice for Mira. Transvestites and transponders are often victims of violence, both by the surrounding community or officials," said the Sandya Institute press statement as received by AFP on Tuesday (07 April 2020).

This violence against Mira occurred in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, thus increasing pressure on the transvestites. Sandya Institute itself highlights a number of cases of violence against LGBT people during 2006-2018.
