News24xx.com - On April 5, a Taiwanese doctor criticized Malaysia for failing to contain the COVID-19 outbreak even though Malaysia is a hot climate country. Not only that, but movement control commands (MCO) are also said to cause more deaths from starvation than from viruses.

But now, a Taiwanese official claims that a rice cooker can sterilize a used mask by steaming it for 3 minutes. In a press conference the same day, Wu and Chen showed how to dry the mask to kill bacteria or viruses that have the potential to accumulate after use. They put the mask in a rice cooker and "cook" the mask for three minutes.

Wu then told the audience to leave the mask in the rice cooker for five minutes before taking it out to complete the disinfection process.

He warned that water should not be used in the stove because it will damage the mask. He also noted that using a rice cooker is better than spraying disinfectant because the liquid can damage the electrostatic coating of the mask.

Wu later claimed that disinfecting masks with rice cookers allowed the masks to be reused up to "four or five times" based on research conducted by the FDA. The bacterial filtering efficiency (BFE) of the mask can also be maintained at a rate of 99% even after dry heating five times.

However, Wu's brilliant idea does not seem to be the ideal way to "disinfect a mask". A man from Thailand, Mai Phutti Sukadecha, decided to try this method after witnessing the Minister of Digital Taiwan, Audrey Tang trying to disinfect a used mask in a rice cooker as well.

The funny thing is, that method works very well because the mask is burning and withering like an overcooked egg.

Some netizens mentioned that he used the wrong rice cooker, while others said he used the wrong settings.

What do you think? Does the disinfectant mask used in rice cookers really function?
