Ministry of Communication and Information: "Care-Protect" Application Help Break the Chain of Transmission of COVID-19

News24xx.com - The Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kominfo) as part of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 believes the presence of the application "Care for Protect" in the android system can help in breaking the chain of transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus or Corona that causes COVID-19 in Public.

This application was created to identify people who have been in close proximity to people who tested positive for COVID-19 or Patients Under Supervision (PDP) and People Under Supervision (ODP).

Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate said, through the application, users can remember their travel history and who they contact with.

"We hope that by doing so monitoring and movement of both patients or those who have been infected or who are still under monitoring or termed ODP can be monitored online," said the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate in his statement at the Media Center for the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Acceleration COVID-19, Graha Jakarta National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

In addition, this application can also make it easier for people who are active outside the home to be aware of the virus carrier couriers. Originally with the record, the whole community, both positive, healed, in monitoring, and healthy provided their information.

Data exchange will occur when there are other gadgets within the Bluetooth radius that are also registered in Care Protect. If a virus threat is detected in a near radius, the system will inform the user.

"The public will be given direct information that around them within two to five meters there is the potential of a virus carrier in the vicinity. They will be asked to immediately avoid and distance themselves from it," explained the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny.

Currently Johnny said, the Care Protect application can only be downloaded on the Android system. He also has been communicating with Apple as an IOS service provider in order to be able to do the same by providing installation access for free.

"Therefore, it will greatly help us to immediately break the chain of distribution of COVID-19. From the Ministry of Communication and Information, we ask that we begin to build positive energy narratives to jointly break the chain of COVID-19 distribution," he concluded.
