News24xx.com -  The Saudi Arabian government prohibits the worshipers to taking self-portraits in Masjidil Haram in Mecca or the Mosque of Nabawi in Medina. So, for hajj or umrah pilgrims from Indonesia who are generally to takes self-portraits should be more careful in that two holy mosques.

That rules is apply to pilgrims who want to take pictures using smartphones, cameras, video recorders, television cameras.

The security forces will not hesitate to take an action, from deleting the video or pictures in Masjidil Haram and Nabawi Mosque until confiscating tools if found violations.

The pilgrims are expected to obey these new rules.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia in its diplomatic note states, "The parties who must responsible for the pilgrims in their respective countries must provide understanding to pilgrims, so they not do vulgar acts or taking self-portraits while worship in the two mosques".


Besides that letter is addressed to the Government of Indonesia, the latest notice from the Saudi Govement have been submitted to any countries from all over the world.


Each year there are about 3 million pilgrims who leave for Arabia for hajj.


Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of Indonesia claimed that they have received the latest diplomatic note from Saudi Arabia.

Head of Public Relations, Data and Information Bureau of Indonesia, Mastuki said it had checked the truth of the latest policy from Saudi through the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (Embassy) in Riyadh.

Mastuki said, the contents of that rule is not new, because previously, the Saudi government has banned the pilgrims to take pictures or video when they worship.

"The ban has long been applied and this is for reinforces the old rules,"


This rule came out after the discovery of a case of pilgrims who took pictures in the Mosque of Nabawi by including the flag of their country.

The Saudi government is considered it can damage the relationship between the two countries and the sanctity of the mosque.


The latest rule of Saudi authorities has long been championed by a number of scholars and internal scholars of the country because in recent years, pilgrims are increasingly exposed to taking self-portraits or made a vlog when they performing for worship.


Activities to taking pictures, such as photographs or videos, does not only happen in Masjidil Haram or in Nabawi Mosque, but also in Ka'ba, while they kissing the Black Stone, or standing near in the hills of Safa or Marwa.
