News24xx.com - A boy who is depicted with frozen hair eventually earns £900 after his picture becomes viral in social media.

Wang Fuman, an elementary school student in Yunnan, China, was dubbed ‘Frost Boy‘ after his teacher uploaded a photo of him.

According to China's state-owned News Agency, the teacher who took the photo said that Wang needed more than an hour to make the 2.8-mile journey from his home to the school

The temperature at which the photograph was taken was -9 ° C. His very sad picture brought the compassion of many people.

"I want to be a police officer against the bad guys," Wang told The Paper, a Shanghai-based publication when asked about his ideals.

"The journey to school is cold, but it’s not hard!" he said.

A total of 500,000 yuan (£ 56,335) was collected to help him, but only 8,000 yuan (£ 900) to his family.

Zhaotong Youth Development Foundation said that the remaining money will be given to other less fortunate students in the region. Other photographs seem to show Wang's wrapped and swollen hand on an almost perfect test sheet.

Poverty alleviation has been one of the initiatives of Chinese President Xi Xiping since taking office in 2012.

Determined to establish of a 'fairly prosperous society', Xi promises to eradicate rural poverty in 2020. Official statistics find in 2016 that about 43.3 million rural residents are still living below the official poverty line of the country. China is the country with the most population in the world which is about 1.4 billion people.

The situation of 'children left behind' like Wang, whose their parents work in the city and their children live in the village with their siblings and grandparents, has been widely discussed in recent years.

"We still have not done enough work to help the poor," said a commenter on Twitter as Weibo said.

Another user noted: 'China has many children like this.'

Some social media users also accuse media of exploiting 'Frost Boy'.
