News24xx.com - A mother who was mocked for decades because 6,000 tumors that covering her face and body, have shared her remarkable photo of surgery.

Libby Huffer, 45, battles with neurofibromatosis, a genetic neurological disorder that causes non-cancerous lumps to form wherever nerves are present.

She fought for over 25 years, after the fibromas developed rapidly throughout her body and caused chronic pain.

After sharing her misery, the mother from Fort Wayne in Indiana, USA, was offered to do specialist treatment to reduce the physical appearance of the disorder by TV Show The Doctors.

She underwent a second electrodessication surgery in June 2017 to kill 1,000 lumps on her face and tissues that cause growth. To reduce the scar, she then underwent C02 laser surgery, which smooths the skin and reduces the appearance of the mark.

She has seen a 'big difference' in her appearance since the operation but her hope is the others can understand about Neurofibromatosis.

Libby who works as a photographer, said: 'I am very happy with the results. I have had about 1,000 fibromas removed so far. My friends and family say that I look great and they see a huge difference. There is still a long way to heal the emotional damage. I have experienced over the years, but I know it will only improve over time."

When she was teenager, Libby's skin is suddenly overgrown with hundreds of lumps that caused by Neurofibromatosis 1 that develops on her skin. The condition is quite rare and only attack 1 of 2,500 people in the world.

After conceiving her first child named Lindsey that now is 23 years old, her tumor grows by thousands.

Strangers would stare, point and make horrid comments about her appearance, including that she had a ‘contagious disease.’ Libby said: ‘I have been bullied and victimised my whole life because of the bumps all over my skin, they cover me from head to toe.

"When I pick up my daughter from school, they call me a lizard and a frog, I have to change my name from Elizabeth to Libby, because every time I hear my name, I remind myself as a lizard can."

Libby has nearly 6,000 tumors in her body that grow a few inches above her skin.

Now Libby joins the charity Neurofibromatosis Midwest, a fundraising to fund medical research on Neurofibromatosis.

She added: 'We need to demonstrate a greater need for more medical care and Doctors for Neurofibromatosis. It is also to further raise awareness and funding for Neurofibromatosis research for healing, care for Neurofibromatosis, symposiums and workshops for Neurofibromatosis. "
