News24xx.com -  On Monday, February 19, 2018, about 12 militants of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were sentenced to death in Iraqi courts. The ISIS widows who were sentenced to death is consisted of an Azeri and 11 Turks. Some of them are present in a Baghdad court with conditions of caring for a baby. The verdict was handed down by a judge on Sunday, February 18, 2018.

In it's verdict, the judge ignored the claim that the widows were deceived or forced by their husbands to join ISIS in Iraq. Women between the ages of 20 and 50 were all arrested in Mosul or Tal Afar, where their husbands were killed as Iraqi forces recaptured the cities from ISIS last year. Only one woman speaking through an interpreter admitted that she was willingly traveling to Iraq with her husband and their children.

"We have to leave Turkey because my husband is the person I want. I want to live in ISIS country, where sharia (Islamic law) is law (applicable) in the field. But, I'm sorry to have come, "said the 48-year-old Turkish woman.

Her husband and two children were killed in an air raid. She burst into tears, while another Turkish defendant almost fainted when the death sentence was dropped. The state-appointed lawyers argue that the women have been tricked into entering Iraq and are not involved in any act of violence. However, they were found guilty under Article 4 of the Iraq Anti-Terrorism Act. The article takes action against any person who commits, incites, plots or financially supports terrorist acts, and illegally enters the country.

"I knew my husband via the internet, he suggested we meet in Turkey, but an intermediary there said that he would take me to my future husband, without saying where," said Angie Omrane, Azeri woman.

"I think we live in Turkey, but I found myself in Syria and then my husband took me to Iraq," he said.

Leila, one of the Turkish women, said : "My husband forced me to come to Iraq threatening to take my two-year-old son if I did not follow him, I do not take part in any acts of violence, I stay home all the time."
