Without trees, made the villages on Laeso Island was buried in sandstorms that damaging their homes. The air becomes filled with sea salt and it inhibits the growth of various types of trees, even grass.


Fortunately, on Laesoe Island has eelgrass (a kind of seaweed). They also still have plenty of buoyant wood that is sturdy when used as the foundation. Then, many houses that made of eelgrass as roof and driftwood.


Apparently this material is very good to be made into a house. Because not only waterproof, the roof of Laesoe residents are also fire resistant and very strong, so it can be trodden.


According to Amusing Planet, it takes about 300 kilograms of seaweed only for one square meter of rooftop houses on Laesoe Island.
