Five ways of dating according to K-Pop Idols

Recently, former member of Madtown, Song Jae-ho (H.O) explained how K-Pop idols date secretly through the airing in Afreeca TV:

1.    Stealing glances at the backstage

For idols, both males and females, backstage after the shooting is a time and place where they can socialize with their costars and coworkers. At this time, there are of course those who interest them. This is the time they can steal glances at the people they are interested in.

2.    Searching information about your crush

When an idol is interested in another, they will search any information about their crush using searching sites like Google for example. They will search the latest news and watch the latest videos. If their interest increases, they will find a way to communicate with them.

3.    Find the mobile phone numbers

When they are really interested in someone, the idols will search for their crush’s phone number, usually by asking other people who work in entertainment industry and know their crush. “You just have to ask to your friend who has a friend who is friends with your crush with the key words ‘You know her?’ and you can get her number easily” Jae-ho said. He also said that some idols exchanged phone numbers by writing it on a drink can or drink bottle and passing it to them, though they did not do that anymore.

4.    Regularly texted sweet words to each other

After getting their numbers, they will start texting each other with sweet words like “You’re beautiful” or “You’re cute”, at least until they decide to meet and go out on a date.

5.    Becoming a “ninja” during a date

Jae-ho also explained how he tried to escape from his dorm just to go on a date. He jokingly said that they had to be “ninjas” to go on a date. They have to climb pipes or power pole just to get out of their dorm without their manager knowing. Even the question of “how do you escape?” is not a strange thing among K-Pop idols. He also said that the love life of an idol is the same as an ordinary person, nothing special. “We are dating the same way you do. We are not dancing like in ‘La La Land’ film just because we are idols,” he said.
