This woman got condemned by her government because of wearing hijab

News24xx.com - Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018, the name of the president of the student organization in Paris, Maryam Pougetoux become the spotlight. This is after the grandson of a French liberation fighter is criticized by the Minister, for wearing the hijab.

As reported by the BBCIndonesia, in France hijab is prohibited in public office but allowed to be used in campus environment in France. The French government banned the use of hijab at schools and in some public offices in 2004, but university campus usage remains acceptable.

In 2011, France became the first country in the EU to ban the wearing of the veil in public places. Hijab or veil that leaves the entire face still allowed.

Protest against Maryam Pougetoux, who has been veiled, since she appeared on the show wearing hijab.

Pougetoux, in an interview with Buzzfeed News, asserted that the hijab she uses "has no political function".

"This is solely for religious reasons" Pougetoux said.

Officials criticized Poutegoux after she appeared on a documentary about student protests against President Macron's education reform.

Interior Minister Gerard Collomb condemned Pougetoux for wearing a hijab that she termed it as a "provocation".

The Minister of Equality, Marlene Schiappa, said the hijab that Pougetoux wore was one form of 'political Islam promotion'.
