News24xx.com - Facebook has been accused of undermining international relief efforts for Burma, Myanmar, for spreading hate speech and hoaxes. According to reports of British politicians who joined the United Nations (UN), has been widely circulated hoax and hate speech related persecution of group Rohingya on Facebook.

The company that has been around since 2004 presents a popular internet service in Myanmar called 'Free Basic'. This service is believed to have helped spread hate speech and exacerbated the massacre of the Rohingyas.

Quoted from Business Insider, Monday, July 30th 2018, members of the British Parliament said this has the potential to hinder the success of aid programs for Burma from the UK. Facebook is judged to have failed to help take responsibility for the misuse of the platform.

"Facebook has disrupted international aid for the Rohingyas in Myanmar, including the UK government's efforts" said a report sent by British politicians.

He also added that the Free Basic service is harmful to the users and very unethical. The Burmese army has been torturing more than half a million Rohingyas brutally by killing, burning, raping. This incident sparked criticism for Myanmar around the world.

Facebook is currently under close scrutiny for its role in the ongoing crisis. In March, the UN said Facebook became an integral part of public life in Myamar, even Buddhist ultra-nationalist faiths abused platforms to share hate speech.
