News24xx.com - The White House is preparing a draft decree allowing President Donald Trump the right to impose sanctions on countries that interfere in US elections.

This is reported by «The Washington Post» with reference to a draft of a document from news.enovosty.com.

The document says that the president will be able to impose sanctions on "ten of the 30 largest companies" in the country whose government interfered with the election process in the United States.

Last week, several US intelligence officials announced Russia's attempts to intervene in the US parliamentary elections scheduled for November.

Trump, after meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, said he saw no evidence of Russian intervention in the presidential elections in the US in 2016. This caused criticism in the US Congress, and the US president later said that he had made a reserve and that he really meant the lack of doubt about Russian interference. US senators after the meeting of Putin and Trump have prepared several bills on new sanctions against Russia.

One of them implies a ban on transactions with new Russian debt obligations, as well as transactions with Russian state-owned banks.

The US State Department on Wednesday also announced the imposition of sanctions against Russia in the case of Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the UK. Sanctions that will enter into force on August 22, are introduced in accordance with the American law on violation of the ban on the use of chemical weapons. There is a restriction on the export of technologies with a dual purpose, including electronics.

The second wave of sanctions can be introduced in three months, if Russia doesn’t provide evidence of compliance with the requirements for the renunciation of chemical weapons. Restrictions at this stage can include a reduction or suspension of diplomatic relations, a ban on “Aeroflot» flights to the US, and a ban on almost all exports and imports from Russia.
