In a tragic protest in India, that did by farmers across Punjab and Haryana have taken a tragic turn after a 70-year-old farmer died after consuming some poisonous substance. But according to the police report, known that the reason behind the farmer taking the extreme step is still not known.
At that time, the protest against two bills passed by the Lok Sabha.
The old man named Pritam Singh, a resident of Akkanwali village of Mansa district consumed the poisonous substance and he died at a hospital on Friday morning.
Singh had been participating in the protest since September 15 which is being organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) at Badal village.
But the farmers’ organization claimed that he was under debt.
As information, farmers across several parts of the country have been protesting for days, for against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020.
The demonstrations are the strongest in the two agrarian states of Punjab and Haryana. Farmers fear they will no longer get paid while commission agents fear they will lose their commission.
And the farmers also protesting against the newly-passed Bills, leading to a reduction of farmers’ bargaining power and crippling them financially.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said that farmers across the country will soon stage protests on the streets.
