A grandfather with the initials M became a suspect in the criminal act of burning land and forest (Karlahut) in Belantaraya Village, Gaung District, and was arrested by the Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indragiri Hilir Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gaung Police.
A 69-year-old grandfather, who is located in Belantaraya Village, clears the land by burning. The area of land burned was 6 hectares, most of which did not belong to him.
M was named a suspect in the alleged criminal activity in the environmental sector, namely clearing land by burning.
“Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Indra Lamhot Sihombing ordered the Head of Tipidter and Criminal Investigation Unit of Gaung to arrest M, and currently the suspect has been arrested at Indragiri Hilir Police Headquarters,” explained AKP Warno.
Also, evidence such as 1 blade of a machete with a length of approximately 80 centimeters and 1 piece of burnt wood was seized.
“The suspect is subject to article 108 of Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management or Article 187 of the Criminal Code or Article 188 of the Criminal Code,” he said.
