Dutch architectural studio, Waterstudio.NL, designed a cruise ship that is shaped like a modern villa.
Faktanya, this cruise ship is claimed to be anti-storm and waves because it uses hydraulic poles.
In addition to the hydraulic mast, the ship uses a solar power generator (PTSL) which can be automated to rise to the surface when it reaches the dock.
The 22-meter long yacht called Arkup 75 was made for the shipping company, Arkup.
According to Waterstudio.NL founder Koen Olthuis, the yacht’s architectural design was inspired by the animal Flamingo.
“The design is inspired by the way flamingos stand on water. Both feet can touch water, but their bodies are not exposed to water when they walk,” Olthuis said as quoted by Dezeen, Kamis (20/8/2020).
Menariknya, Arkup 75 also uses solar power to provide electrical energy to the air conditioner (AC), Petir, and equipment on the cruise ship.
According to Olthuis, the cruise ship design he made will be very useful for the lives of people living on the coast and the very rapid population growth in cities.
This cruise ship can be an alternative shelter for them, especially the Covid-19 pandemic conditions which force everyone to maintain a safe distance to avoid spreading the virus.
Just like villas in general, Arkup 75 is also designed with a charming interior in such away.
There are several furniture in it, such as sofas, tables, greenery, lamps, and glass that can be moved to see the sea view from the inside or directly outside.
Olthuis admitted, he had planned this two-story cruise ship nearly two decades ago. Apart from Waterstudio.NL, there are several architects who use the sea to create a floating space.
Sebagai contoh, British Studio Grimshaw and Concrete Valley in the Netherlands for a floating concrete house project.
