Parangtritis Beach is located 27 km south of Jogja City and is easily accessible by public transportation which operates until 5.00 pm or private vehicles.

Not many people know that to the east of this cliff hidden temple ruins. Unlike other temples located in mountainous areas, Gembirawati Temple is only a few hundred meters from the edge of Parangtritis Beach.
To get to this temple, we can take the uphill road near the Queen of the South Hotel then enter the path to the west for about 100 meter. The faint roar of the ferocious southern sea waves can be heard from this temple.
Parangtritis Beach is closely related to the myth of Ratu Kidul. Many Javanese people believe that Parangtritis Beach is the gate of Ratu Kidul’s magical kingdom. Hotel Queen of the South is a resort named after this legend.
A ROMANTIC SUNSET IN PARANGTRITIS
When the sun is leaning west and the weather is fine, it’s time to have fun. Even though visitors are prohibited from swimming, Parangtritis Beach has no shortage of facilities for having fun.
On the beach there is an ATV (All-terrain Vehicle) rental, the fare is around IDR 50,000 – 100,000 per half hour.
Enter the gear then release the clutch while pulling the gas. Brrrrooom, this 4-wheeled all-terrain motorbike will speed up to take you across the beach sand dune.
ATVs may only be suitable for those who are adventurous. Another option is bendi. Walking along the smooth sand surface swept by the waves with this 2-wheeled horse-drawn carriage is no less fun.
Bendi will take us to the eastern end of Parangtritis Beach where the coral clusters are so beautiful that they are often used as pre-wedding photoshoot spots. The dim twilight and golden sun shadows on the surface of the water further evoke a romantic atmosphere.
Parangtritis Beach also offers excitement for those who travel with family. Playing kites with your little one is equally fun.
The strong sea breeze is very helpful in making the kite fly high, even if you have never played a kite before.
