The father, Michael Christopher Glance, was arguing with the boy’s mother, Nicole McCarthy. He reportedly held a pistol to the boy’s forehead and pulled the trigger.

McCarthy brought the boy to the car and tried to flee the house. Glance came out with a shotgun and fired the weapon, blowing half of the boy’s face. He fired at the mother as she fled the scene.

Glance was arrested and faced multiple charges due to his crime. The boy was hospitalized in C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was still in a critical condition.
