Former badminton athlete Taufik Hidayat was questioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission

News24xx.com - Former badminton athlete Taufik Hidayat, visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building today, August 1. He said he was questioned about his duties when serving as special staff at the Sports and Youth Ministry and deputy chair of the Indonesia Gold Program Executive Unit (Satlak Prima).

"They only asked for some information since I was a staff at the ministry from 2017 to 2018. [They asked] about what I did in Satlak Prima too," Taufik said at on Thursday.

According to Taufik, he was also asked about Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi and his assistant Miftahul Ulum.

When asked if he was also questioned about the corruption case related to grants from the government to the national sports committee KONI, Taufik said there were no such questions. 

KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah confirmed that his agency requested information from Taufik in his capacity as deputy chair of Satlak Prima and special staff at the ministry.

KONI secretary-general Ending Fuad Hamidy was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison plus a fine of Rp100 million, while Johny E. Awuy was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison plus a fine of Rp50 million.

The two men were convicted guilty of bribing several officials of the Sports Ministry in order to obtain approval for two grant proposals submitted by KONI.

In the verdict, the judge also said that Miftahul Ulum, the personal assistant of Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, was proven to have received Rp11.5 billion. The KPK is investigating the case further by calling on new witnesses.
